Pattern Saturday

Gloomy windy day did not deter pattern enthusiasts.
 Hmmmm, not many about.
Oh yeah, it's lunchtime.

Judges hoping it will be better tomorrow.

The shelter doing its thing.

More work done

New Start-up areas.

 Shelter roofing

An excellent shelter.

Some working bees.

There have been a few working bees lately.

Fences removed at ends of runway and replaced with electric fences to allow extra useable length for large or fast models with accurate-aiming pilots.

Puddle removal operations.

Taxi-way work and pilot-box upgrades.

Removing pits weed.

These will be foundations for shelter over pit area.

Taxi-way beautification and the oblong puddles will be concrete starting pads.

Sunday after wet week

The drain is looking kinda blocked
Of course after the amount of rain we've had in the past few days it really is hardly surprising. The further 'pond' has drained OK.

August Update

Recent rains have meant that drainage was needed as in this pic.

Subsequently, drain has been installed.
Brian is seen here filling in.
We received a donation of a used 3 phase generator from COATES HIRE.
The pump shed has been extended to accomodate it.
Plenty of power now!

Tomorrow will be Mid May Muster day and the weather will be fine and hopefully we will have quite a few pilots turn up for some excellent fun flying.

Dirty Work

Tom, Brian and Ian fire up our grader, kindly donated by Reg.

Crank this and wind up that thingy, she'll be apples.

Are these guys having fun or what?
Getting the hang of this thing.

Field Birthday

VMAA State Field Eastern Official Opening. Sunday 8th March 2015.

Aeromodeller Competition Three In One(n) Scale Rally two day event paused half way through day two for the official opening ceremony.

BADMAC President Graeme Martin started proceedings, then handed over to MAAA President Neil Tank, (inset top)  then to Mayor of East Gippsland Shire, Councillor Peter Neal (inset bottom)then to VMAA President Carl Bizon who performed the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the day.

Chris James presented to the club a specially made bench seat in remembrance of his father Barry James, our late long serving club member, who helped design the ACTIO(n) Scale Rally event.

The back-rest engraved with a propeller, the hub being a cast plaque for Barry.

Whilst preparing the official first flight by Barry James' son Tim, BADMAC Vice President Bruce Strong presented Graeme Martin and Brian Hutchinson with Life Memberships for great service rendered in preparation of our excellent facilities at State Field Eastern.

Brian and Graeme are a bit stunned.
Tim James flew Barrys old Tiger Moth, to much applause, opening the field.

ACTIO(n) Scale Rally then continued.

ACTIO(n) event

Saturday 7 March 2015, day one of two day ACTIO(n) event to mark the official opening of VMAA State Field Eastern.

We now have 'Certificate of Occupancy'

We're getting organised for the ACTIO(n) event on March 7 and 8.

Working Bee

Lots of guys busy at the field today.

Much mowing, now that the mowers have been fixed.
Well done to all those involved in the repairs.

Ground breaking to plant some shrubbery as a wind-break/shield for the all-abilities toilet.
(Political correctness here)

Planting well under way

Look at the fabulous conveyor belt pathway

Windsock flying again at last.
